HydraFacial®

Developed by Edge Systems, the HydraFacial® is the only skin health treatment system to combine medical technology with relaxing spa therapies to safely and effectively rejuvenate skin. The HydraFacial targets a wide variety of common skin concerns, including wrinkles, fine lines, dark spots, clogged pores, sun damage and uneven skin tone.

Unlike other methods of skin resurfacing, this procedure does not use any harmful lasers or invasive techniques. Instead, the HydraFacial features a unique skin abrasion tip that uses patented Vortex-Fusion® technology. The Vortex-Fusion technology cleanses, hydrates and exfoliates skin, giving the patient a more youthful and healthier appearance. The revolutionary HydraFacial treatment is considered ideal for patients of any ethnicity or skin type. Plus, since no downtime is needed, patients can immediately return to their normal activities following treatment with clear, radiant, healthy looking skin.

Benefits of the HydraFacial Procedure

A unique procedure that is sometimes compared to microdermabrasion, the HydraFacial is one of the most advanced non-laser skin resurfacing procedures in use today. The treatment is performed by trained professionals in spas and dermatology offices to restore healthier and more youthful-looking skin for both men and women.

The HydraFacial can effectively treat a variety of skin issues and conditions, including:

  • Sun damage
  • Fine lines
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Wrinkles
  • Dark or age spots
  • Skin dehydration
  • Enlarged or clogged pores
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Acne scars
  • Excess oil in the skin
  • Blackheads
  • Melasma

Candidates for the HydraFacial Procedure

The HydraFacial treatment is designed to be safe and effective for patients of all ages and a wide range of skin types and textures. Even patients with more sensitive skin or allergies are considered good candidates for this treatment. However, a skincare professional or doctor may recommend using specific serums during treatment to prevent any sort of allergic reaction. Prior to having a HydraFacial procedure, patients may need to undergo a skin sensitivity test to ensure that there will be no adverse skin reactions during the actual treatment.

The HydraFacial Procedure

The HydraFacial treatment is administered through a special machine that has an attachment on which a patented tip will be placed. The spiral-shaped tip applies the Vortex-Fusion technology. It has an abrasive edge that is designed to help thoroughly exfoliate and cleanse the skin. When the attachment tool is held against the skin, it creates a vortex-like effect that readily dislodges and removes impurities from the skin.

The HydraFacial procedure begins with an exfoliation and cleansing process. This helps the pores to open up as well as sweeps away dead skin cells and any remaining makeup remnants. Next, a gentle glycolic acid peel is used to remove any excess debris in the pores.

Following the peel, the pores will undergo a painless extraction process. It is during this step that the Vortex-Fusion technology is employed, acting as a vacuum to remove build-up in the pores while simultaneously hydrating them. Once the pores have been cleansed and hydrated, an antioxidant-and-collagen rich serum is applied to the skin to promote lasting skin elasticity. HydraFacial treatments usually take about 15 to 20 minutes to complete, and do not require any downtime.

Results of the HydraFacial Procedure

Many patients will see visible skin refinement and a more radiant, even skin tone after just one treatment. Patients can maintain their results even longer by using HydraFacial Daily Essential skin products at home. Usually, monthly in-office treatments will be recommended in order for the patient to keep maximizing the benefits to the skin. HydraFacial treatments also help slow down the skin's aging process, reducing the need for more invasive procedures or surgeries.
